HearOn @ Deaf Connections offers an Aural Rehabilitation Service to hard of hearing people.
What is the Aural Rehabilitation Service?
The Aural Rehabilitation Service is a one to one service suitable for any hard of hearing people with rehabilitation needs.
Our Lipreading classes and other services can help with the process of rehabilitating someone who has become deaf. However, some people require additional support while others simply prefer one to one person centred support services.
Dot Davidson, a qualified and experienced audiologist and counsellor, delivers the Aural Rehabilitation Service at Deaf Connections.
What help is given?
Dot can respond to individual needs as appropriate, for example, she can:
- Provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
- Signpost people to useful services and facilities
- Provide information and advice on all aspects of deafness and hearing loss.
- Undertake hearing aid maintenance and dispense batteries, including making new ear-mould impressions.
- Demonstrate equipment and assistive devices, such as loops, telephones, textphones, alerting devices, etc.
- Provide Tinnitus Retraining Therapy and support for those affected by tinnitus.
How do you access the service?
Many hard of hearing people are referred to the service by Social Work or Audiology departments. However, hard of hearing people can contact Deaf Connections direct and make an appointment to visit Dot. If you wish to make an appointment to see Dot, contact us and ask to speak to Carol Grice.
